Katelyn Kripak, Associate

Katelyn joined our team in September 2024 after completing her articles with a small general law firm here in Edmonton.

Originally from Ukraine, Katelyn attended Zaporihzhia National University where she obtained her LLB in Civil Law in 2018. After working as an in-house counsel for a few years in Ukraine, she decided to further pursue her legal career in Canada, where she moved in early 2020. Through the Internationally Trained Lawyer Pathway program from the University of Alberta, Katelyn obtained her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee of Accreditation in 2023 and was called to bar in 2024.

Throughout her articles, Katelyn had a wide range of exposure to civil and commercial litigation, including employment matters, personal injury, corporate and real estate. Katelyn has experience representing clients in all levels of Court, including the Alberta Court of Appeal as well as the Alberta Human Rights Commission and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.

At Sharek, Katelyn maintains a general practice, working collaboratively with senior lawyers on a variety of matters, including insurance matters involving claims against the municipal government, claims under Occupier's Liability Act, Plaintiff personal injury claims, condominium law, as well as Bankruptcy and Receivership matters, construction disputes and agricultural creditor recovery.

Katelyn believes in a proactive approach to litigation that emphasizes timely resolutions for her clients. Each case is unique, and Katelyn takes the time to understand the individual circumstances and challenges her clients face. Her empathetic perspective allows her to connect deeply with her client's needs, ensuring they feel supported throughout the legal process. With robust advocacy and strong research skills developed throughout her legal career both abroad and here in Canada, Katelyn is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for every file she handles.

In addition to English, Katelyn is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian and can offer legal services in all three languages. Katelyn is also conversational in Hebrew and is actively involved in the Jewish and Ukrainian communities in Edmonton.

Katelyn is a mentor with Edmonton Regional Immigrant Employment Council, a settlement agency that provides employment advice to people who recently immigrated to Canada, especially, those affected by the war in Ukraine. In addition to that, Katelyn is a vice president of an Edmonton-based charity organization that provides food hamper deliveries and educational opportunities for low-income individuals and newcomers.

In her spare time, Katelyn enjoys reading, hiking, biking, travelling and spending time with her friends and family.
